Recorded live on Jimi’s personal 8-track and brilliantly re-engineered, this album, when played loud enough, will take you backstage in 1967, right behind the curtain — making you an awed witness to The Experience’s first concert on american soil.
To say that Jimi was talented is missing the point; Jimi was supernatural. Offstage, he was friendly, even shy, almost like a normal guy — but when he turned on the Marshall, he went to another plane. There were no notes, there was no key – Jimi’s music seemed to be bypassing his fingers to flow directly from his mind. Few other musicians ever played that well.
He only graced us of a few albums during his brief time, from 1967 to 1970. He passed like a comet, magical, intense, and all too brief.
